For more than 28 years, Barbara Jane Barron has represented clients in personal injury, mass tort, products liability, commercial litigation, and other complex civil litigation and has effectively and efficiently coordinated the nationwide and statewide defense for defendants.  Her litigation experience includes numerous first chair trials in counties across the State of Texas to successful results, arguing major motions in various states, and taking lead for the defense group on significant motions.  She has been requested by numerous courts to serve on steering committees and to act as liaison counsel to the bench.  Her clients include well-recognized national companies who desire their litigation to be effectively, efficiently, and economically managed and who want the experience of trial lawyer who can try their cases to verdict when necessary.

Barbara joined MehaffyWeber in 1984. Before then, she was the briefing attorney for United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas, Robert M. Parker.

Licenses 
Barbara is licensed to practice in Texas, Oklahoma, California, Mississippi, and Arkansas and is admitted to practice before all Texas and Mississippi state and federal courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.  Ms Barron has taken the "A" reader x-ray course and is a certified pulmonary function technician, all which aids in the defense of inhalation cases.

Education 
She graduated from Baylor University in three years with a B.S., summa cum laude where she swam on the varsity swim team and she received her J.D. from the University of Houston Law School, magna cum laude where she received the law school's annual student service award, and where she was the campus' female student representative to the Southwest Conference Committee, and Managing Editor of the Houston Journal of International Law.

Representative Experience 
Represents multiple multinational corporations in toxic and environmental cases

  • National Silica Counsel for Fortune 500 client and a privately held national company
  • National Asbestos Counsel for a national company
  • Successfully presented a case for several distributor defendants in New York and upheld the finding on appeal in Ford v. Pulmosan Safety Equipment Corp., 831 N.Y.S. 2d 353
  • Argued the non-malignant asbestos standards for all defendants at the Asbestos MDL
  • Obtained defense verdict in a premise liability personal injury case
  • Obtained defense verdict in a commercial property damage case
  • Obtained defense verdict in a contract dispute case
  • Obtained defense verdict in one of the few silica cases tried in Texas
  • Obtained an early summary judgment in a complex environmental case saving the client millions of dollars
  • Argued several Lone Pine motions to successful conclusion which resulted in case being dismissed

Activities 
Barbara is the 2nd Vice-President of the Symphony League and serves on the Symphony of South East Texas Board.  Additionally, she serves as a board member on the Shorkey Center Board.  She is the current President of the Monsignor Kelly High School Board and is past President and a board member since 2000 on the Southeast Texas Family Resource Center, a nonprofit organization serving low income families.  Barbara has been active in the Junior League of Beaumont where she received their Diamond Award for community service in 2005 and was Sustainer of the Year in 2005.  She is a graduate of the Chamber's Leadership Beaumont program and has participated in the Chairman's Council.  She is a past President of the League of Women Voters, past board of directors for the Humane Society of Southeast Texas and the Texas Federation of Business & Professional Women where she won their statewide competition for individual development. 

Memberships and Honors 
Barbara Barron was selected as one of the top 30 Extraordinary Women in Texas Law by Texas Lawyer in 2008.  She has been selected as a "Texas Super Lawyer" since 2003, "Top 50 Female Attorneys" since 2007, one of the "Top 100 Lawyers-Houston Region," since 2008 and "Top 100 Attorneys in Texas," in 2010.  She has also been named a Super Lawyer-Corporate Counsel Edition in Personal Injury Defense: General in 2010.  She received the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award from the Jefferson County Bar Association in 1996.  She is among approximately fifty females selected from diverse careers yearly to participate in the Leadership Texas program.  She was selected as a finalist for the Jefferson Award for community service.  She is a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, a member of the College of the State Bar, and a Master in Michelle F. Mehaffy Inn of Court.  She is active in the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, Texas Bar Association, and Defense Research Institute where she is currently serving on several committees.  She was recently selected as a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC).

She frequently chairs national seminars and has published numerous articles.
