Butch Boyd’s practice involves complex commercial litigation, including securities matters, oil and gas disputes, construction litigation, patent and licensing disputes, representation of trustees in complex corporate fraud cases, and general business litigation on both sides of the docket. He has secured numerous multi-million dollar results for his clients and has argued successfully before the Texas Supreme Court.

Butch has a national trial practice and represents large corporate clients as state and regional trial counsel in complex tort litigation. He has been with MehaffyWeber since 1992 and a shareholder with the firm since 1999 in the firm’s Houston and Beaumont offices. He currently serves on the Management Committee.

Education

Butch graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a B.B.A., with honors, in 1989. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University in 1992.

Memberships and Honors

While at Texas Tech University, Butch was the editor of the Texas Bank Lawyer and a member of the National Mock Trial Team.

Butch is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), the American and State Bar Associations, the Jefferson County Bar Association and The American Association for Justice.

In 2004, Butch was selected by Texas Monthly magazine as a "Texas Rising Star." He has been recognized as a "Texas Super Lawyer®" since 2005. He was also selected as a "Texas Super Lawyer®" Corporate Counsel Edition in Business Litigation and one of "Houston's Top Lawyers" in HTexas magazine for 2008 and 2009.
