James G. Martingano has been with MehaffyWeber since his graduation and a shareholder with the firm since 2000. He has been practicing law for the past 18 years with a focus on civil litigation. He currently spends a majority of his time handling toxic tort claims, specifically the defense of premises exposure claims to a variety of industrial products and chemicals including benzene, butadiene, vinyl chloride, silica, asbestos, and manganese (welding rods). He also works as local counsel for national firms representing major corporations in claims filed in both state and federal courts all over Texas.
His clients include DuPont, ExxonMobil, Hess and other major energy companies. Mr. Martingano also handles several insurance defense cases with a focus on premises liability claims. He has successfully tried both personal injury and property loss claims to verdict in State Courts in Harris and Galveston County. In addition, he represents clients in a variety of litigations including Jones Act, premises liability, personal injury, and wrongful death claims.
While his major areas of practice are toxic torts and premises liability claims, he has handled a number of other types of cases. Included among these are product liability cases involving wrongful death and personal injury claims stemming from industrial accidents and natural gas explosions. He has also represented clients in environmental nuisance claims as well as mass tort litigation including breast implant and pharmaceutical litigation. In addition to personal injury claims, he represents clients in a number of complex commercial litigation claims involving contract disputes and other economic damage.

James received his undergraduate degree from Texas A & M University and his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1994.
