Maryalyce Cox joined MehaffyWeber in 1999 and became a shareholder in 2005. She specializes in civil litigation defense, with an emphasis in products liability, premises liability, toxic tort, environmental cases, insurance defense, entertainment law and pharmaceutical and medical device defense. Maryalyce has successfully tried to verdict personal injury and property damage cases in various jurisdictions in Texas state courts. She is licensed to practice in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.

Education
Prior to attending law school, Maryalyce graduated magna cum laude from The Louisiana's Scholars' College at Northwestern State University in 1995, where she competed for 4 years on an athletic scholarship. She went on to graduate magna cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center in 1999.
Representative Experience
• Obtained defense verdict on behalf of an insurance company in a personal injury trial in Jefferson County, Texas.
• Participated in successful appeal of an eminent domain case.
• Obtained summary judgment on a hotly contested statute of limitations issue in a toxic tort case.
• Successfully argued a special appearance for a Canadian distributor in a products liability case. The trial resulted in a large verdict against the manufacturer, after the Canadian distributor won its special appearance.

Activities
At the University of Houston, she was head Case Notes and Comments Editor of The Houston Journal of International Law, recipient of the John & Becky Moores Scholarship Award, and named to the Order of the Coif and Order of the Barons.
Maryalyce also volunteers her time to serve as president of Ray Walsh Foundation, a non-profit corporation which raises money for cancer research and cancer patient services.
Memberships and Honors
She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association. Maryalyce has been recognized as a "Texas Rising Star" since 2005 in Texas Monthly magazine. She has also been named one of the Top Lawyers of Houston for 2011 by HTexas Magazine.
