Robert Black Elected Chair of State Bar Board
Robert A. Black, the Managing Shareholder of MehaffyWeber, P.C., was elected chair of the board of the State Bar of Texas during the organization's quarterly Board of Directors meeting in Brownsville, April 21, 2006. He is the first chair of the Board of Directors to come from Beaumont and served as the Chair during 2006 and 2007.
Bob has served as president of the Jefferson County Bar Association, and has chaired State Bar committees including Facilities & Equipment and Policy Manual. He has successfully defended a multinational corporation in a complex patent infringement case. He has tried numerous other cases including many personal injury suits. His practice is now focused on mediation and arbitration. As a mediator, he has handled more than 2,500 disputes, including many complicated mass tort and class action matters. He has been active in Beaumont community and civic organizations including the Humane Society, Land Manor, Sabine Neches Bridge League, Texas Bar Foundation and the City of Beaumont Planning and Zoning Commission.
