Michele Smith was the recipient of The ATHENA Award given by the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce.  The ATHENA Award Program is presented to an individual who personifies the highest level of professional excellence, devoted time and effort in their communities to improve the quatlity of life for others, and actively helped women realize their full leadership potential.  The award is given yearly by local Chamber of Commerce organizations around the country.  Last year's honoree, Paula O'Neal, presented Michele with award on Friday, May 16, 2008.

Michele Smith has been a shareholder with MehaffyWeber since 2000, in both the Beaumont and Houston offices.  She is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  Michele serves on numerous boards of civic and charitable organizations.  She is a Past President of the Junior League of Beaumont, Land Manor and the Jefferson County Bar Association Auxiliary.  Currently, she serves on the Alumni Boards of Lamar University, Monsignor Kelly High School, and St. Anthony Cathedral School, and Boards of The Symphony of Southeast Texas and the Beaumont Civic Ballet.
