In 2014 former Justice David Gaultney returned to MehaffyWeber to resume private practice after serving 13 years as a Justice of the Ninth Court of Appeals. David is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Appellate Law. He obtained his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Texas School of Law and his Master of Laws Degree from the University of Houston Law Center. He served as a member of the Texas Supreme Court Advisory Committee. David's practice includes civil appellate law, serving MehaffyWeber clients throughout the state. Elana Einhorn, experienced appellate attorney and former University of Texas Law School faculty member, recently joined our appellate team in Austin.
The MehaffyWeber appellate team has successfully challenged and defended substantial jury awards covering a full range of civil cases. Our team assists our litigation lawyers in all aspects of case development including pretrial and trial strategy, preservation of error during the trial, jury charge preparation and argument and post-verdict motions. Our appellate attorneys also represent new clients who turn to us after suffering adverse trial verdicts or when they need to protect trial court victories.
Our appellate attorneys have argued cases before most of Texas' intermediate courts of appeal, the Texas Supreme Court, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. We have handled appeals before various administrative agencies, including the Department of Labor, the Social Security Administration and the Occupational Safety & Health Administration.
