MehaffyWeber is pleased to announce Managing Shareholder Bob Black recently joined the American College of Civil Trial Mediators (ACCTM) as a Fellow. Established in 1995, the ACCTM is a non-profit organization of professional mediators across the country. Mr. Black is one of only a handful of mediators from Texas selected for membership in the prestigious ACCTM Fellows.

Fellows are selected by invitation only after a comprehensive application process reviewing their overall experience, skill, reputation, ethical standards, and commitment to alternative dispute resolution. The ACCTM only accepts members who have clearly demonstrated the highest level of achievement within their legal field.

About Bob Black

Robert “Bob” Black is a leading Texas lawyer and mediator. He joined MehaffyWeber in 1980 and is renowned for both his litigation prowess and his prolific and successful mediation and arbitration practice. Bob has focused his practice on mediation and arbitration in recent years, successfully mediating more than 4,700 cases on a wide range of subjects and routinely arbitrating disputes throughout Texas and in other states. He was honored in 2014 by the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Texas as a Texas Legal Legend.

Bob is a member of the American Arbitration Association Roster of Neutrals and was selected by Chambers and Partners® for inclusion in the 2016 inaugural rankings of Mediators Nationwide, an honor only bestowed upon 22 mediators in the country. He has also been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers® (2011-2019) and Super Lawyers by Thomson Reuters (2003 – 2019) for his outstanding legal work and pristine reputation for ethics.

Bob is well known within the legal community, having served as president of the State Bar of Texas from 2011-2012. During his time as president, he started an initiative called Oyez Oyez Oh Yay!  to educate students on U.S. Supreme Court decisions that control the shape of our country and illustrate the central importance of the rule of law. This initiative was awarded the 2012 Community Outreach and Education Award from the National Association of American Bar Executives and LexisNexis, a national honor not previously accorded to a State Bar of Texas initiative.
