Courtland Parker Spotts (“Court”), joined MehaffyWeber as an associate attorney in 2022, focusing his practice on insurance defense. Courtland is a magna cum laude graduate from Texas A & M University with a degree in political science before earning his J.D. from South Texas School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. At South Texas School of Law, Courtland participated in the pro bono guardianship clinic, where he was commended for his exceptional ability to connect with clients in a compassionate and empathetic way.

Courtland was selected to serve as a Judicial Intern for The Honorable Thad Heartfield in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Courtland also interned for U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, who shares his Cuban-American heritage and his private Christian school background.

Growing up in Beaumont, Texas, participating in a family insurance adjusting and risk management business, Courtland has been privy to the claims’ handling perspectives of major insurance companies. Courtland also has experience in construction management of General Land Office projects, as well as general construction company legal issues.

In the community, Courtland is a member of the Jefferson County Bar Association, is a Neches River Festival Knight, and is an active member of A.C.T.S. Courtland has also been involved in community service projects assisting the intellectually disadvantaged, the homeless, and women and children who are victims of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.

Courtland enjoys international travel and spent three summer semesters abroad studying political science and intellectual property by design. Courtland has visited 14 countries and is eager to continue his travel pursuits. At home, Courtland is an animal lover and staunchly defends the rights of his dog, Isman.
