Melissa Casey is a seasoned litigation attorney with an extensive background in personal injury and business litigation.  A fairly recent transplant to Texas, she spent most of her career in Chicago, representing hospitals, including Children’s Memorial Medical Center, Mercy Medical Center and Advocate Health, as well as many insurance companies and corporations. She successfully defended cases against health care providers, including obstetricians for birth injuries, commercial motor vehicle accidents, and business contract disputes.

Ms. Casey has also spent a considerable percentage of her practice representing plaintiffs, even though her philosophical leanings are very defense oriented. She credits this experience for her foresight in litigation and her ability to anticipate plaintiff’s strategies and effectively counter them. In that capacity, she represented the family of a brain damaged toddler, a case which was featured in Parents magazine. She has also done considerable pro bono work, representing individuals in civil rights claims, forcing an election for Local 73 of the SEIU, and acting as guardian ad litem for abused and neglected children.

A graduate of DePaul University, College of Law, Ms. Casey was actively involved in the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. Prior to that, she attended George Washington University, where she worked as an intern for Congressman John E. Porter.

She is licensed in Texas and Illinois, as well as the federal district court for the Northern District of Illinois, the Western District of Texas, the Southern District of Texas, and the Eastern District of Texas.

In her spare time, Ms. Casey enjoys playing tennis, golf, and pickleball, especially with her husband, Chris, and their five children. Sundays are for the dogs, though, and you’ll find her at the dog park with her border collie and two Siberian huskies.
