The MehaffyWeber family suffered a tragic loss with the passing of our longtime friend and colleague, Keith W. Foley, who passed away suddenly on May 5, 2026.
Keith W. Foley devoted more than three decades of his life to MehaffyWeber, building a career defined by professionalism, integrity, and steadfast dedication to his clients, colleagues, and family. Following his sudden passing, we join together in mourning the loss of a respected attorney, trusted mentor, and dear friend whose impact on our firm and legal community will not be forgotten.
Keith joined MehaffyWeber in 1988 after earning his M.B.A. from the University of Texas at San Antonio and his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center, where he graduated with honors. He began his legal career with the firm immediately following law school and remained with MehaffyWeber until his retirement at the end of 2023, dedicating his entire legal career to the firm and the clients he served.
With more than 35 years in practice, Keith established himself as a highly respected trial lawyer with a focus on toxic tort litigation, products liability defense, insurance defense matters, and Deceptive Trade Practices Act claims. He was widely recognized for his work handling complex exposure claims involving industrial products and chemicals, including benzene, silica, and asbestos litigation. Throughout his career, he managed statewide toxic tort dockets for Fortune 500 companies and successfully defended numerous complex matters across Texas.
Keith earned the trust and confidence of his clients through his tireless advocacy, sound judgment, and unwavering commitment to achieving meaningful results. Opposing counsel respected him for his professionalism, preparation, and ability to handle even difficult matters with civility and resolve. Within the legal community, he developed a reputation as a thoughtful and dependable attorney whose integrity guided every aspect of his practice.
His accomplishments were recognized throughout his career, including being named to The Best Lawyers in America and to the Texas Super Lawyers list.
While Keith’s professional achievements were significant, those who knew him best will remember him most for the person he was beyond the courtroom. Within MehaffyWeber, Keith was a mentor, sounding board, and steady presence for generations of attorneys and staff. He was generous with his time, calm under pressure, and always willing to offer thoughtful advice or encouragement. His practical wisdom, humility, and warm sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to work alongside him.
Keith treated clients, colleagues, and staff with genuine kindness and respect. He approached both his work and his personal life with humility, grace, and quiet confidence. He embodied the values of professionalism and humanity that continue to define our firm today.
Above all else, Keith was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and they remained his greatest source of pride throughout his life.
Keith Foley’s legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, the younger lawyers he mentored, the clients he guided through difficult moments, and the example he set every day through his character and leadership. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The MehaffyWeber family extends its deepest condolences to Keith’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.
